Interested In Starting a Club?

Our team will be role models of service; creating an empowering learning environment as we continue to create and build our current clubs with a solid foundation that will ensure longevity through time.  Our dedication to serve will inspire members through their Toastmasters journey to achieve their full potential, realize their dreams, and become our future leaders.

Did You Know?

  • There are three Toastmasters clubs started every single day all over the world!
  • It’s a great decision for you, your community, your school, or your company!

What’s The Process?

  • First, let’s talk about the number of people it takes to have a successful club.
    • You need 20 members to charter a new club!
    • If you want to start a corporate club – a club for employees of a corporation – you have the best chance of success if there are at least 50 people in management positions in your company, and/or over 150 employees at your location.
    • If you want to start a community club – a club open to everyone – you have the best chance of success in communities (including surrounding areas) of at least 10,000 that don’t already have a Toastmasters Club.
    • Why not start a club at your college or university? College and Toastmasters make a perfect fit: People go to college to learn and grow, to experience new people and cultures, and to develop new skills. All those things happen in a Toastmasters club as well!
    • If your situation matches any of the above – contact us. If your situation doesn’t match the above criteria, but you’re confident you can get 20 members for your club anyway (that’s yourself and just 19 more!) then still contact us. District 1 is here for you too!
  • Second, contact the Club Growth Director to discuss the roadmap and to obtain the forms.
  • Third, let’s talk about launching and running the club:
    • We have Toastmasters that will help guide you through the process of building a new club; we’re here to help!
    • You’ll be part of a team that will include Club Sponsors, Mentors, Area and Division Directors, and the Club Growth Director.

Membership Growth

Growing your membership is the right thing to do:

  • More people can fill meeting and officer roles
  • No one member is overburdened with responsibilities
  • Meetings are more fun, because more people are involved
  • It’s easier for a club to help members meet their educational needs

Some Options

  • One very successful method that EVERY club should use is the OPEN HOUSE.
  • SPEECHCRAFT is another great method for introducing potential members to the benefits of Toastmasters.Click here to learn more about Speechcraft!
  • Of course, the best method of growing membership is through your current members – word of mouth, inviting friends and neighbors as guests – going to service clubs, faith-based groups, these are all great ideas!
  • To help inform potential members about Toastmasters, we have marketing materials that you can give out for free! Just click here to access your free marketing materials!
  • You also have your Area Governor who can provide help and guidance!

Need To Revitalize Club Membership?

Twenty Members

  • Toastmasters International is a 90 year old brand.  We know that there are great growth opportunities for Toastmasters, but we also know that sometimes membership in clubs has it’s ebbs and flows.
    • If your club is struggling to get the 20 members required, we can help.  Why 20 members?  That’s the minimum number to ensure members don’t get “burned out” and that all members get the variety of feedback and experience they need to reach their Toastmasters goals.
    • It may also be that your club has more than 20 members, but only a few of those members actually attend meetings on a regular basis.
