Steve Yu an Exemplary Mentor In and Outside of Toastmasters

Steve Yu, Assistant Dean of Operations and Chief Financial Officer of the UCLA School of Law has been a Toastmaster for over 10 years.  Like many others, he joined to become a better speaker. Since that time, he has shared his gift with students and staff on the UCLA campus. Most recently, he gave a speech to the UCLA Alumni Council on the importance of effective communication skills when connecting with potential donors.

When called upon for assistance like many other Toastmasters he never says no. He is an active mentor and presenter in the Bruin Leaders Project, Bruin Toastmasters for UCLA-affiliated members and True Blue Toastmasters for External Affairs employees. In May 2017, he was awarded Volunteer of the Year Award by the UCLA Alumni Association. The award was given in recognition efforts to encourage other alumni to
volunteer and stay engaged with UCLA.
